    I get this error:Error: Invalid time format at line#: 2162; Line: –>
I don’t even have that much lines.
what can i do about it?

This is normally the actual text file line, and not the subtitle row number. Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the subtitle file for further investigation?

When I use your website, I want to click ads to thank you. But the ads page not open in a new tab, so sometimes it confuses. If the ads page open in new tab, it will be better.

Thanks for your kind efforts. However, Ads are not in my control (managed by Google Adsense) and I don’t recommend or suggest to click them to say thank you 🙂 There are just there to cover up some cost of my website hosting and I hope these are not very annoying.

How can I change the color of the subtitle so that it comes out yellow? Is there a way to put the language subtitle already preselected because a lot of time is wasted every time you put a chapter in, having to look for the subtitle to use…thanks in advance, this program is very practical

      > How can I change the color of the subtitle so that it comes out yellow?

You want to set a new color for a subtitle row? If yes, then this will normally depend on the format of the subtitle you are using. For the SRT subtitle, you can use the FONT tags to do this. If it’s the case that your subtitles are already colored, but you just want them to show accordingly while editing. You can toggle the HTML tags display as detailed below:

      > Is there a way to put the language subtitle already preselected because

Just to confirm, you want this to be pre-selected to your last selection (during the next visit), correct?

Please make the use of gpt-4 free. I live in Iran and I cannot buy gpt-4 subscription.

    thanks.

Thanks for the input Logan! GPT-4, and in fact GPT 3.5 too, is still so expensive that I can’t afford to offer this for free.

Sometimes the file doesn’t download, it just opens a tab with the translation. Is this because I use Adguard ADBLOCK, ghostery, duckduckgo Privacy Essentials extension, webRTC, and decentraleyes, VPN, and the OpenSuse Linux operating system?

Thanks for sharing all these amazing technologies Dylan, but no, I don’t think any of these are related. I think what’s probably going on is that your browser is registered to open some files type (.SRT, .SUB, .ASS, etc) and when you try to translate and download these files, it opens directly in the browser. I think when this happen, you can right click and Save-As your file. If this is too annoying, probably try to unregister the file type from the browser file association.

Please add import subtitle from url like “https://example.com/subtitle.srt”

Thanks for the suggestion. It’s a bit security risk to download and process files directly from another website. But I will see if I can find some simple way to do that.

Thanks, good application. However, when I have several subtitles to translate I would like the language selected for the first subtitle to remain selected for the next ones.

Sorry for the trouble there. It looks like this failed due to the site being temporarily overload. I’m working on optimising this.

Just FYI, you were not charged for this failed translation.

Akbar, first of all, thanks for this excellent and useful tool.
Anyway, I have a UTF-8 without BOM english srt with some “2 bytes long” characters (like é or ♪). If the 1st time they appear are in the first “entries” (I have checked around 1800 characters), when I import it, then everything is fine, but if the 1st time they appear they do it later, then ?? appears instead of these characters. If the file is UTF-8 BOM it does not happen and the file is imported fine.
Anyway, as I have told you before, thanks for your excellent tool.

Thanks Ramon for sharing this case. It’s an interesting encoding scenario, which I have’t run into before. I though BOM characters only appear start of the document, but may be there are some cases where it’s not. Would be possible for you to share your SRT file with me for further debugging? I can then look through that and see if I can teach my SRT cleaning code to also get rid of these marker characters.

Akbar, regarding my March 16, 2024 at 8:55 am message, I didn’t see your replay until today. Maybe I didn’t explain well. The BOM character in UTF-8 files, as you say, is at the beginning. The problem is with UTF-8 files with no BOM, that in some cases UTF-8 is detected (and then it is OK), and in other cases UTF-8 is not detected and then characters longer than 1 byte are not recognized. E. g. If the first “2-byte long character” in the file is “in the first lines” if the file, then it detects that the input is UTF-8 and then that character and the rest of “2-byte long characters” are recognized. If the 1st time a “2-byte long character” in the file appears not in the first lines, then the input is not recognized as UTF-8, and ?? appears instead of the UTF-8 character.
For me it is no longer a problem because I have found a way to add the BOM character before translating. Anyway, if you want to “investigate”, I send you by email 3 files working with/without BOM, and not working with BOM. I give you some more few details in the mail.
        Thanks again

          Hi Ramon,

Thank you for explaining this in such a detail and sharing the sample SRT files. Thanks to your help, I think I have now isolated and fixed the problem causing some files without BOM to not recognized correctly as the UTF-8. If you run into any other issues, please do let me know.

          Thanks again!

    Hello~!
When I use google translator option, the drop down language menu seems to be depended to my IP.
When I am in Thailand, it’s in Thai, when I am in Vietnam it’s in Vietnamese and so on. I cannot read these languages, is there any way to set my preferred language as English for the drop-down menu? I can’t seem to find any setting that changes the language. When I get redirected to original Google Translator page, its in English as usual.

Hi Marta, thanks for sharing the detail. I think Google Translator widget picks the language from the browser language settings. So if you can change it, that should do the trick. I don’t see any settings in the widget configuration to force this, but I will see if I can change it on the fly (after loading) without breaking it functionality.

It works really nice to translate from eng to est until there is some subs where is these [CELLPHONE RINGS] that translates really wrong. Is there any way how to delete all these “silent noise” [GUN SHOTS] automatically or with one click?

    | Reply
    • Akbar

Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad you are finding this mostly of help.

Regarding your query to auto remove silent noise, I think the best option at the moment is to use Find & Replace feature to find and replace these sentences from the subtitle – either before translation or after translation. If you have no expertise with Regular Expression before, I think the expression you’r looking for is “\[.*?\]”. You can keep the replace field empty. You can read more about this and explore/test these here:
