Great job. It would be interesting to put a translation option via Bing translator. Bing has translations better than Google.

Great tool. What would make it awesome would be if you could edit both the source and target languge without having to upload it again.

Oh, my work had a problem. My SRT file have 787 lines, and when I use your tool, it has > 300 line.
    This is my file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6TxHZ64pb8mcnAxdXpGSDQ3dEk/view?usp=sharing
And this is its problem: http://i.imgur.com/gYQT594.png
Can you explain to me why? Thanks in advance.

      David,

Interesting problem. After looking at the file, it looks like it has some invalid format causing the SRT parser to fail at line#304. To fix the problem, open this file in any text editor (Notepad or Notepad++), and then remove the 2 extra empty lines for line#304. What I mean is that change this:

      304
      00:19:19,200 –> 00:19:23,079

      in an enormous camp
      commanded by General Campion.

      To this:

      304
      00:19:19,200 –> 00:19:23,079
      in an enormous camp
      commanded by General Campion.

Save it, and try uploading again. It should work this time.

Thank you again, Akbar, for responding. I have downloaded “MKVToolnix kit” which includes the mkvextract. Now I shall play with this app. Been trying to get English subs for the movie “99 Homes” 2014/15 with no luck so far. Hopefully this little app will give them to me.

    Kind Regards,
    Sherry

Thanks for responding to my post. I really need to learn how to pull the English subs out of AVI & MKV movies. There must be an application that does that automatically because it would take forever to do it manually. It took me hours just to fix like 30 sentences in subs I had one time.

      Sherry,

I know that subtitles can be extracted from the MKV file. Just search for “mkv subtitles extract” on Google, and try to explore first few search results. However, I’m not very sure if it’s possible to extract this from AVI files as well. May be this is an option, but I have never tried this before.

The application seems to convert the text from Swedish to English fine BUT the words are way off sync with the movie…they start too soon so are at least 2 sentences ahead of the actual voices in the movie. I always use VLC player on my computer but like to watch movies on my TV. Is there a way to slow down the subs other than using K & J keys because that way is not permanent? Thanks

      Sherry,

That’s probably a problem with the subtitle file itself. You can try various online tools to adjust the times, but this is not easy job.

      XviperN,

Can you find out what encoding your text editor is saving the file which works correctly?

      Regards, Akbar

        Akbar,
when i download your file its in UTF-8 encoding
then i open it with notepad and just saving it as Unicode OR ANSI encoding and its Good (Unicode encoding is Better)
i check on other sites they use ANSI encoding wich is also good

          XviperN,

Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense. I will see if I can easily add the other encodings support in near future.

          Regards, Akbar

      David,

It already supports Unicode (UTF-8 to be specific). Which language you are trying to encode this?

      Regards, Akbar

I’m using Vietnamese. But your format is UTF-8, not Unicode. So when I’m playing srt with KMP, letters are not displayed correctly.

          David,

Actually, to be specific, Unicode is a character set and UTF-8 is one of the possible encoding for the Unicode characters. May be the Player you are using, doesn’t support UTF-8 encoding? Can you please check which encoding it supports? Or can you try this in VLC player as I know it works fine with most of the encoding formats?

          Regards, Akbar
