Hi-
I just wanted to let you know, I have just had some browser-specific issues with the latest version of the translator. I have used the last version for a couple years now, on my Mac, using Google Chrome (since it loaded faster there).
Today, when I tried the latest version on Chrome, the selection boxes that should appear to the right of both the lines “Translate To:” and “Or By Bing:” were not present- there was no way to select anything, and proceed.
When I tried Firefox, they where there, and I could get a good translation with Google Translate, but when I then went and clicked on Save As, I got a little message “Wait, loading…”- it just hung, and never loaded.
When I tried Safari, I could get to this point, and the file saved, but as a plain text file (movie.eng.srt.txt).
The only browser that allowed everything to work properly was Opera (luckily).
Thanks for all your work- an amazing site!
Joe P.
Thank you for the detail report on the issues and workarounds. I think all you need to do is to clear your browser cache, and it should work back to normal as it used to be in the Chrome. If still experience problem, please let me know.
I have tried to make the interface slightly cleaner to help you decide which tool to use. Basically, if you want to use Google, use the first “Translate To” combo-box option. I hope this helps.
@Akbar I figured it out for you. WebStatistics is missing in my firefox when I try download, I guess the adblocker is preventing it. And quite right so. Don’t call WebStatistics on the main tread, run it async so it can fail without the rest of your great app suffering.
To anyone with the same issue, open your Javascript console and run this line:
Thank you very much for isolating the issue, and sharing the fix plan. I have done the fixes, and some small UI tweaks and optimizations to make it load faster. Hopefully, this works well for everyone now. If any of you still experience problem, please do let me know.
Sorry for the trouble guys, but having problem isolating the issue. I was not able to reproduce this problem on few machines I tried, so not sure what’s causing this to fail on some other machines. I’m almost using the same browsers versions, but it works every time on my end.
Just out of curiosity, are you guys using any other extensions like popup blocker, security, etc? Would you mind disabling any of those, and see if that works. Of course, I don’t want to you turn these off completely, I just want to isolate what’s causing this to fail, and then find the proper fix. Thanks for the help.
Sorry for the trouble, but can’t reproduce this issue. So, any other details to help me isolate this issue will be of help i.e. what browser version you are using? You are trying this on Mobile or some Desktop (Windows or OS version?), and if this problem is with every subtitles file, or with some files only?
Sorry for the trouble. Unfortunately, I’m not able to duplicate this problem. Is it possible that you can send me a screenshot of the way the page appears on your end. Also, if you can share the browser version you are using, it would help me better isolate the issue.
It would be WONDERFUL if you could have a “Save as (Facebook)” option, which would save them with the country codes already added on, i.e. “captions.ar_AR.srt” since facebook requires that! Please! 🙂 Also — batching :))))
Do you get any particular error, or the download simply fails? Also, if you are using a Desktop or Mobile chrome browser? Any more details will help me isolate and fix the problem.
Fantastic work Akbar. Hearty congratulations for your work. I have done the Tamil translations for ’12 Angry men’ on my own using the Tamil font Bamini. I can not upload it in Tamil itself. Now seeing your work I think it is possible to upload the file with Tamil. Will you you guide me in this regard.

Hi, How can switch between bing and google translator? It seems it is working with bing only.

Download Works with Microsoft edge.
Seems Johan is right. The “Save As” button does not respond to clicks. Nothing happens.
I am having the same problem. Can’t save the translation. I am using Mozilla 61.0.2 ( 64bit) on a desktop PC running Windows 10
Thanks Michael for the details. I think I have got a clue about the possible issue, and will try to fix this at priority. Thanks for the help.

Please fix the problem so we can save the translations again. Love this application! Tried it with Chrome and Firefox.

What browser you are using? Do you get any error when downloading file, or clicking the Save-As button simply doesn’t work?
Regards, Akbar

grammar is not good while eng to hindi translation..why??
This is because machine translation can’t be very accurate. I’m sorry, but this is best which can be achieved at the moment.

Hmmm… do you get any error when uploading the tamil file? If you can provide more details, I can see into fixing this soon.
