This is an awesome tool. There are lots out there but all of them crap.
BTW, I tried yesterday and your account was down. Now is working but I had to manually scroll down to get it all translated, otherwise, just the visible portion gets translated.
You may check what’s wrong.
Thanks for the feedback. Regarding the translation on scrolling, I think this is some new feature by Google Translator to only translate the content visible to the user. I think this feature was added to do only the translation of the content as needed. For now, even though I think I can find some way to fool this logic, I will rather not do this to avoid conflict with any Terms of Service. If this continues to be a big problem, I will try to find some legal way to fix this.
Akbar this tool is great and allows my wife who is Chinese to watch all the movies and tv shows I enjoy. It can be a very laborious task sometimes trying to translate maybe 5 seasons of a tv show but the tool was so good that i just had to put in the work and it would get done. this latest change, i.e. having to scroll down to get all the text translated makes this operation almost impossible. i tried scrolling to get a tv show subtitle translated and it took me about 3 minutes for it all to get completely translated. it used to take me 10 seconds. this change means a half hour job would take over two hours now. i read your comment about conflicting with Google terms of service and I understand that. But i REALLY hope you can incorporate some logic that can get around this recent change. i look forward to hearing your thoughts on this…
I’m using Google Translate widget, and this new translate-on-scroll feature/limitation is by them. I’m looking into some ways to avoid this without violating any of their Terms & Conditions, but so far you have to scroll to make the translation works.
Also, can you try the new Bing Translate feature, and see if this is better?
I have some trouble while trying to translate my english subtitle into indonesian subtitle
I did the procedure to translate from english to indonesian and when I try to press the
“save as” button, it downloaded.
I tried the subtitles and see if it pair with the video, then I realize that the subtitles
are not translated at all, they are the same as if the subtitles are redownloaded from english
to english.Like a copy of itself
I hope that you can help me regrading this issue, thank you very much Akbar
Did you by any chance closed the Google Translation bar before clicking the “Save As” button? If yes, then please close the translation bar only after the download is complete. If you didn’t do this, and still can reproduce the problem, can you please email me (see Contact-Us page) for debugging of that subtitle file?
Looks great. But if I choose translation to croatian, bosnian, slovenian… each sentence is translated only untill it reaches čćžš. So for instance for english a sentence “i will do this” (Ja ću to učiniti) is transalted only “Ja”. I have no problem if there wouldn’t be those characters, i can have only czs, but i would like whole sentences to be translated.
Can I recover files that I do not have time to save it into my computer? I accidentally closed the tab being I edit subtitles. Help me, I was almost 90% ready to edit it. My file title is ‘Indignation’.
I’m sorry, but I don’t think there is any option to recover that file now. I don’t keep any temporary file copies on server during editing, so unfortunately, you have to start from scratch.
You have to be kidding. No way could I find English subs for Blind Date 2007. I downloaded Hungarian and uploaded here. Thinking I would have a fair bit to do in Subtitle Edit, I was happy with just getting them. This conversion is not only accurate in speech, but the timings are spot on. Incredible, thanks a million. Rob
Sir,
I subtitled a video in malayalam as per your instructions. As long as the video and SRT file in the same folder, I can see the subtitles, but could not encode it . So I cannot send it to any one.I tried several software but could not encode as in ENGLISH.Encoded video shows the subtitles as boxes. can any one tell how to subtitle and save in malayalam..Is there any other softwares..
What Video Player you are using for playing the video files with sub-titles? If not already tried, can you try VLC Player, and see if this fix the subtitles rendering issue.

You can add a prompt before closing the tab: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10311341/confirmation-before-closing-of-tab-browser
You could also use LocalStorage to copy the state and restore it on tab reopen. I can help if you need.
Thanks for this service, it’s very awesome!
Mars,
Nice suggestions. I will try to implement most (if not all) in the next build.
