Did you by any chance, close the Google Translator bar before or during the download of the subtitles? If yes, please don’t close this bar until you download the subtitles file. Please try again, and let me know if the problem persists.

I have the same exact issue like Joe. Translation is done but when I play the movie, its comes with the original subtitle still. Thank you anyway for all your effort.

One other reason for this could be that you are not replacing the existing subtitles file. By default the translated file has the language-code appended in the file name. So when you move it back to the source folder, it will not overwrite existing one, and the video player will keep playing the original subtitles. Please let me know if this is not the case, and I will investigate this further.

This site has been a Godsend. Have used it for years with no problems. Now, as others have mentioned, it does not work in Chrome on my Macbook Pro when I try to save the file. It does save the file in Firefox, though I don’t use Firefox unlessI have a problem with Chrome. Would appreciate updates if you figure out how to save in Chrome again.

      Jagswim,

Thanks for the feedback. Few other people have also complained about the save-as issue, but I can’t seem to reproduce this. By any chance, do know if you are using any Ad-block extension on chrome? If yes, can you please tell me the name. I think something is blocking the save-as but I’m not able to reproduce this issue on my end.

Hello, thanks for all your work.
I have a suggestion: there should be a way to Save while editing the translation. Today I spent several hours editing a translation here, and then accidentally I clicked a button that made “Back” in the browser (firefox) and I loose all my work. I know it’s my fault but maybe these situations can be avoid if there must be some security or “auto save”. I’m kind of depressed because I’ve lost a full day’s work here. Now I will try to translate elsewhere. Anyway, thank you.

Sorry for the trouble, and loss of your work. I have received requests for the similar feature in the past, but my main hesitation/concern about storing anything on the server is that I don’t want to run into any copyright issues. I will see if I can come up with some clever way to avoid storing files but still support the save/resume feature. Thanks for your input.

Hi there…Have you change anything in the program lately? I’m asking you because as i know before some 3-4 weeks the translation needed about 20 to 30 secs to translate the subs and 10 secs to be saved now the time of tranlation is almost the same as before but when i click ”save as” needs 30+ mins {thats the time i left it to download}and desperately i stopped it without a result!
please inform me what is wrong with the program and can i fix it! Thank you.

Well, it looks like some of the script responsible for downloading the file is failing. What browser your are using? Can you try any other browser Chrome, Firefox, IE, etc and see if that helps? If you are using Chrome or Firefox, do you have any ad-blocking extensions installed? If yes, can you temporarily try disabling those to see if that helps. Once I know what’s causing the failure, I will try debugging further.

  12. After the file is translated i download it and then upload it to youtube subtitles section… but after about 5 minutes the subtitles return back to english from whatever language it was on. How to solve this issues? thx

Most probably the full file is not being translated before downloading. To fix this, when you upload the subtitles file and do the translation, scroll through the page and make sure all the subtitles are translated before downloading file (Google translator only translates content currently visible on the page). I hope this helps.

Dear Akbar, Thank you, all so much, for this realy beautifully working, state-of-the-art tool. Works just like a charm. I now have translated asadora “Toto nee-chan”-episodes 73-156 (i. e. those which are not available anywhere) from Japanese into English, and all went smoothly. (Well, google-translated that is. 🙂 ) These episodes are rather short, like 200-plus captions, but I also tried two files with about 1500 caption, and none became truncated, or else not translated (which happens with Google-file-translate oftentimes). So, all is great. Thaaank yooou very much! Regards from Sweden, yours Manny Happy!

Hi, when I translate the subtitles on my iPad they are not saved as a file, but a webpage with all the text is displayed. Which makes it quite difficult to save for me, since I have to select all the text, which can’t be done at once and it spoiled some episodes for me. And I have to paste it into a different app and save it as an srt file to import it again in my video player app.

Would it be possible to save the translations automatically to a file on iOS instead of showing a webpage with all the text?
    Thanks!

I’m assuming you are using Safari browser. If yes, working around may not be simple on iOS device as they don’t have normal file system like Desktop one. Can you try with any other browser like Firefox, and see if that fix the problem?

This works with only the .SRT subtitles files. If you have subtitles in any other format, you will first have to convert these to SRT format.

Did you by any chance closed the Google translator bar before downloading the file? If yes, then this might be the problem. Make sure that all the subtitles lines are appearing translated when clicking Save-As button. If still experience problem, please let me know.

    Hi

Very handy and saves you a lot of time, however i feel that would be nice to have the option to save the file as appear for further processing.
I can imagine…. in excel file with all the columns, original and translated texts for direct comparison and translate.

  23. Dear Admin,
    This is amazing.
I am trying to translate English Subtitles to Malayalam language. But i need to edit the translated content, to make it better. Is it possible to pause and continue at a later time ? Because you know movie subtitles are lengthy, i will not be able to complete them in a day.

Unfortunately, currently you can’t pause and re-upload half translated work. However, the Subtitles files are simple text files. So once the automatic translation is done, you can download the file, and then edit this in any text editor like Notepad to do any manual fixes/translation. I hope this helps.

    Hi there,

I’ve the same problem than Joe P, when I click “Save As” I have the “Wait loading…” message and nothing appends. It seems broken and clearing the browser cache doesn’t help.

So, you are using Firefox on Mac as well? Can you try any other browser? Also, if possible, can you try to disable any browser extensions (Ad-Blocker, etc) to see if that resolves the problem. If I can isolate what’s causing this to fail, will try to work on the fix at priority.

I tried with Chrome and Palemoon under the good old Windows Xp and with Firefox under Windows 10. None works currently, this is a bit strange because it was working great somme time ago. So currently I use somme python scripts along with the Chrome bultin tranlation to convert srt but that’s a bit dirty. I don’t knoww really what can cause this trouble, the translations seems to work fine, it’s the “Save as” clic that doesn’t work. 😀

You were right, it’s µblock origin for some reason that cause trouble. I should think about this. Thanks a lot, I prefer to use your great translator than my dirty python stuff. Thanks a lot and sorry for the noise. 😀 Best regards.
