The translation from Norwegian to English is very wrong in basic words; For example the Norwegian word Nei, should be translated No, but being most of the time translated “in the”… if standing alone. In a sentence, it’s more correctly translated to No…. Same with “Ja”, that should be translated Yes, but being translated “and”.. I have checked it in google translate, and it is being translated correctly there….

Can you share one full sentence having this problem? Also, did you try with other translators (Yandex or Microsoft) to see if they perform better?

You can then toggle the display order and style by clicking the alignment icon in the “Translated Text” column. I hope that helps.

You can do that by clicking the “magnify” icon in header of the subtitles table. I know it’s not perfect, especially when the number of words you don’t want to translate are large, but at least better than nothing.
Yeah the merge between original and translation is really helpful. Maybe you can put another font colour for the translated text to make them more visible.
Is there a way to integrate a word-by-word translation? It’s really helpful to understand the original language more and how the grammar is build. We use video based materials in language schools for our students and the option “merge between original and translated subtitles” is invaluable!

BTW, the error where it was complaining about the count related parsing is definitely a bug. I have fixed it now.
Hello, I have a similar problem as above when using VTT file. When I save work in progress, the format is changed to SRT. I can use the SRT file to upload again and continue verifying the translation but when I finish and click on ‘Save As’ the final file format is still SRT while I need a VTT file. The ‘Save As’ button cannot be used for a partially corrected translation because when you upload again to continue correcting, you are losing the original language for comparison.

Weirdly though, while i didn’t toyed much with it yet, when saving using the “Inprogress” button, it saves an .srt file insted of an .ass file, but when using the “Save As” button, it correctly saves the file as an .ass.
Don’t know if it’s a bug or a feature, but anyways, thanks again for this! Extremely useful software 😀

It’s great, but when translating into Spanish, the generated .srt words with accents are replaced by different characters. However, on the web they appear perfectly. For instance:

Spanish -in .srt generated-: ¿SerÃa posible hablar de música si no hubiera conciencia humana …
Spanish -in correct translation and also as you can see in the web: ¿Sería posible hablar de música si no hubiera conciencia humana …

Hi there, thanks for the detailed reporting of the issue. I had a quick look the at this issue, and it looks like the Spanish SRT file has the content with correct characters (if you view this in some text editor):
¿Sería posible hablar de música si no existiera la conciencia humana?
So if this is not a translation or save-as problem, I guess most probably the issue is with your video player. What video player you use to play these translated files? May be it doesn’t correctly support unicode (UTF-8) characters? Is it possible to try using the VLC player and see if it works better?
If you continue to have problem, please do let me know. We can work out this issue together, and hopefully will find some solution.
You can do that by right-clicking on the “Save-As” button at the top right corner. Or please view the youtube tutorial for this and other tips and tricks.

Could you add dual sub fuction (ex: Eng + Translated) in a .srt file.

The only way is to put a dot behind every single word, if someone needs word-by-word translation. Maybe that’s the solution. Cheers!
