Is farsi an available language? I’m looking to translate a rather long show (I have permission to do so) and wanted to explore so different avenues first
Do you mean Persian language? If yes, then it’s supported by nearly all the free and paid translators. There is also a “Free” mode for the paid translation, so you can use that to evaluate the translation quality. I hope this helps.
If I’m primarily looking to translate French, German, Italian, and Spanish subtitles to English, what would be the optimal choice? I’m mainly looking at Gemini 3 vs GPT 5.1
Unfortunately, there is not a straightforward answer to this and I can’t personally comment on the quality of the translation for these languages pairs as not a native speaker.
What I can tell you is looking through the translation history of nearly last 5 thousand translation on my website, GPT Translator was used nearly 48% of the times, followed by Gemini with nearly 17%. It might be valuable to further split this info by the choice of languages and models. I will try to build some graph for that soon.
BTW, do you know you can also evaluate most of the translation models free by changing translation type to “Free” – limited to 50 lines per batch.
when i click “new” button website dont save my translation language so i need all time change to croatian, when i refresh then website remember croatian.
Thanks for reporting this to me. I assume you are using Google Translator? As it seems to be working for other translators, but when using Google Translator, the selection definitely get reset. I will fix this soon.
Just an update. I have now fixed target language selection reset issue for both Google and Yandex translators. It should now retain your last language selection when uploading new file.
You can merge subtitles, as well as the order of what’s displayed at the top, by clicking multiple times on the Merge Subtitles icon button – displayed at top right corner of the translation table. You can read more about it here: https://blog.syedgakbar.com/subtitles-translator-help-tips/#merge-subtitless
Hi Akbar, is it possible for you to add Hmong to the other AI Models like GPT, Gemini etc. Google translate and Microsoft translations aren’t great and I would really love alterntaes thank you!
Great website! Can you add a button to download the “Original Subtitles”, as we may edit that content as we translate the subtitles, and it would be good to download the updated original language subtitles.
Please note that due to a bug, this “Save Original” button only appear after you click on the “Edit original subtitles text” button at least two times. I will fix this soon, but hopefully it gets you going for now.
Hello sir, thank you very much, one thing I would like to know is do you have any future plans to release an Android app version of Subtitle Translator.
Thanks for the feedback Rocky! I don’t have enough queries or demand for an Android app as web version works well on Android browsers too. But happy to look further into this if there is enough demand for native application.
Hi, Akbar!
I met a strange thing – for now from Russia https://www.syedgakbar.com/ is avaliable only with VPN. The translation is really bad – I don’t know if VPN could cause it. If it’s possible for you to find out what’s happening – thanks in advance!
Sorry for the trouble Nadya! The blocking may be due to my hosting provider or Cloduflare. However, I do keep hitting valid hits from the Russia, so it may be that certain IP range or areas are blocked. Without a VPN access to simulate Russian traffic, it’s hard to understand what’s going wrong.
> The translation is really bad – I don’t know if VPN could cause it. If it’s possible for you to find out what’s happening – thanks in advance!
This should not be related to your location. I assume you are using DeepSeek. They recently change/upgraded their models. May be that’s what causing the problem. If you can give me some example (order number, filename, etc), I can look more into this. Or you can also try other translators and see if that helps.
A very nice service you´ve built here, appreciate it a lot, but unfortunately the .srt files I translated with a paid gpt are faulty in their timing-marks and not usable.
Sorry for the bad experience Peter. Regarding the bad timing marks, the AI subtitles translation can sometime go out of sync. If the sync is limited to few rows/batches only, you can shift/re-translate the rows using built-in tool after translation. You can learn more about it here: https://blog.syedgakbar.com/subtitles-translator-faq/#misaligned-translation
However if it’s more than 30-40 lines, I’m always more than happy to issue full refunds. Please just let me know the Order Number or the source file names and I will issue full refund promptly. I normally also then review why the translation went out of sync and try to fix at the core level.
Thank you brother. I have used your program for years. It really helps me to create subs without translate it manually. It fast, accurate and easy.
Thank you brother from the bottom of my hearth
Is it possible to save the settings for added languages? I translate to the same languages every time. Is there already a setting to pull those languages back up for each file translation or do I need to manually choose them every time?
Yes, I think. I assume you are talking about multiple target language translation. If yes, you can save/restore the languages list by clicking on the “Save” button at the bottom of languages. And then restore it by clicking on the “Restore” icon next to the language dropdown.
Hi, thank you for this service. Chat GPT 4.1 seems to be the best without skipping too many blocks, but still, it skips some and therefore messes up the time stamps so badly that the free translation blocks you offer to correct this are not enough. Please consider offering more free translation blocks for correction, so I can fix my subtitles properly. I would fix them manually even using my own Chat GPT Plus and then copy paste the translation in, but that is also not possible because once blocks are not translated at all, they are empty and you cannot “edit” this translation that isn’t there and not put anything in there… So please while offering more free translations for fixing, also consider to make it possible to fill empty translation blocks manually. Thank you.
Thanks for getting back to me and sharing your feedback. Great feedback. I have now done the following two fixes.
1. I have now doubled the re-try limit compared to the previous limit. This should hopefully help you fix nearly all of the alignment issues in any file. In case still run into this, please do let me know.
2. I have now fixed the issue where you can’t edit/re-try the empty block. This is not yet live, but will be release pretty soon.
I added $$ to the account, but the program won’t let me save – I’ve used it a bunch and this is the first time $$ was required AND it still won’t allow me to save. ? Thanks in advance for the help. Mike
Sorry for the trouble there Mike. I see that you have loaded amount and it’s available for translation in your account. But I don’t see any subtitles translation requests from your account using this balance. Do you get any particular error when trying the translation? If you can share more details on what’s blocking you or what type of error you get, I can look into this promptly.
BTW, there are still free translation options available i.e. Google and Yandex. The rest of the services are now paid as their provider doesn’t offer free alternatives and charge for any translated text. So that’s why I’m passing over that cost to the end users.
Is this where I need to report problems back to you as you request? I have an SRT that’s 95% English, but around 1h50 there’s a show that’s in Italian. There might be more after that, I don’t know, I wanted to first add English translation underneath the Italian lines. H.o.w.e.v.e.r, your site errors when I try to translate, saying “More than 50% failed to translate.” Ya, duh! More than 50% is already English! I wanna translate aaaalllllllllllllllllll the Italian lines an auto-translator can find, so I don’t need to first finish watching the whole movie to see where all the Italian text is and then pluck that out into a separate file for translation. And when I then press RESUME translation, it d.o.e.s.n.’.t resume at all! It starts back from zero (0) again! How do you call that ‘resume’?? Anyways, I can’t complain, I programmed nothing to make this translator happen, so who am I to yell here. My request though is that besides the [_OK_] button on the error, an [_I_don:t_care,_just_continue_translating_(the_<50%_of)_the_lines_that_c.a.n_successfully_translated_] button be implemented. Thank you. Oh btw, the movie I'm referring to is Mulholland Drive.
Thank you for explaining this issue in detail and with background scenario. I added that auto block safety feature because 90% of the times the issue that end user wrong select the source/target language, so I just don’t want them to pay for something which is not going to be useful – even if it’s a user mistake.
However, what you have explained is another valid scenario and it makes perfect sense. I can’t tell you when, but I will try to implement this feature pretty soon. Thanks again!

Would be nice if edits on translated text would be saved. I accidentally reloaded the page (no only once) and had to redo the many edits 🙈
Thanks for suggestion Mike and this is definitely in my to-do list. I will try to support this pretty soon.

How to merge origianl and tranlational subtitle, then the translational subtitle under the orignal subtitle?
I want to save this format.
Hi Moroya,
You can merge subtitles, as well as the order of what’s displayed at the top, by clicking multiple times on the Merge Subtitles icon button – displayed at top right corner of the translation table. You can read more about it here:
https://blog.syedgakbar.com/subtitles-translator-help-tips/#merge-subtitless
I hope this helps.

Hi Akbar, is it possible for you to add Hmong to the other AI Models like GPT, Gemini etc. Google translate and Microsoft translations aren’t great and I would really love alterntaes thank you!
Hi Hang,
Sure, I have now add Hmong to all popular LLM models e.g. OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, etc.
Regards, Akbar
Thank you Akbar – this is a fabulous service. Works seamless for me – Much appreciated!
Great
Hi,
I’m using this wonderful website for many years, thanks for the updating features
Great website! Can you add a button to download the “Original Subtitles”, as we may edit that content as we translate the subtitles, and it would be good to download the updated original language subtitles.
Thanks for the suggestion, Paul. This is definitely something which can be handy from time to time. I will try to support this pretty soon.

Hello again!
Did you manage to add the button to download the original (edited) subtitles?
I couldn’t find the button.
Best regards,
Paul
Hi Paul,
Yes, I added that. But that buttons appears only once you turn on editing of original subtitles – this is to avoid default buttons clutter. You can read more about this:
https://blog.syedgakbar.com/subtitles-translator-help-tips/#edit-original-subtitles
Please note that due to a bug, this “Save Original” button only appear after you click on the “Edit original subtitles text” button at least two times. I will fix this soon, but hopefully it gets you going for now.

Akbar

Hi, Akbar! DeepSeek became more stable. Maybe that was not bacause of vpn )) Thanks a lot for your efforts!
Thanks for the update Nadya! I’m glad things are working better for you.
